Is your skin looking older than you actually feel? Would you like to take some years off the look of your face? Why not consider some of the treatments we offer here at the Cumberland Laser Clinic. From Thermage® Skin Tightening to full face skin resurfacing to banish wrinkles, we offer it all!

Fraxel®

The Fraxel® laser is the newest laser to our office and is used to rejuvenate skin. This “fractional” treatment targets between 20% - 25% of the skin at a time, thus facilitating a faster healing time. The laser produces thousands of tiny, deep columns into the skin, eliminating old epidermal pigmented cells. The body’s own natural healing process creates new, healthy tissue to replace skin imperfections. Helps in eliminating sun damage, softens fine lines and improves texture to the skin. Depending on your condition, we will recommend an effective treatment regimen, from 3 – 5 sessions. Post treatment you will experience mild to moderate swelling, redness and a “sunburnt” feeling. Your skin will exfoliate as new skin replaces dead skin tissue. The use of a neutral moisturizer will help with the dry feeling.

Thermage® Skin Tightening

Thermage® is the only non-invasive treatment that delivers tighter skin, renewed facial contours and healthier collagen. The Thermage® procedure utilizes a patented radiofrequency (RF) technology called ThermaCool™. It has been clinically proven to tighten and gently lift skin to smooth out wrinkles and renew facial contours. The incision-free procedure is fast and easy, and requires no downtime from normal activities. Unlike lasers, Thermage® can be performed on patients of all skin types. It works by uniformly heating a large volume of collagen in the deeper layers of the skin and its underlying tissue. This deep uniform heating action causes deep structures in your skin to immediately tighten. Over time, new and remodelled collagen is produced to further tighten skin, resulting in healthier, smoother skin and a more youthful appearance. Results appear gradually, over a 2 – 6 month period, although patients have reported seeing an earlier response.

CO2 Resurfacing

If you desire a long-lasting, comprehensive approach, rather than treating wrinkles and spots individually or gradually over time, you may want to consider laser skin resurfacing. C02 resurfacing can actually eliminate evidence of sun damage such as wrinkles and discolouration, and it can significantly improve depressions in the skin, such as acne scarring.

With facial resurfacing, a high-energy beam of C02 light is used to vaporize lines, wrinkles, scars, dark spots and other irregularities, layer by layer. This process also stimulates the formation over time of new, underlying collagen to provide better elasticity and support for the skin. For moderate to deep resurfacing, your skin will go through an initial healing period which includes weeping and crusting that typically lasts 7 – 10 days. At this point, most patients return to normal activities and makeup may be applied. Your fresh, new skin will be reddish pink, a good sign that you’re healing and that blood is nourishing the growth of new skin cells. The redness gradually fades within 4 – 12 weeks depending on skin type and depth of laser treatment. Laser resurfacing can restore your skin to a healthy state, similar to that of skin that has not experienced sun damage or scarring. With proper sun protection, results can persist for more than 5 years.

Erbium Resurfacing

The Sciton® Contour™ is used to remove thin layers of your skin’s surface, which will be replaced by younger skin growth. Your wrinkles will soften and become less noticeable, some will disappear, and pigmented lesions will greatly improve. Results are similar to the C02 Resurfacing (please read above). Healing time does vary among individuals, but you can expect a few days to replace the outer layer of your skin. Redness is common and swelling may be present in the areas treated. The top layer of your skin will re-grow and can be covered with makeup in about a week. Your new skin will be very sensitive to ultra-violet light and you must avoid sun exposure until fully healed.
